A rental car is close to essential here: the best beaches sit on the western coast road, well away from Nidri, and public transport does not cover them well. Porto Katsiki and Egremni are reached by steep stairs down a cliff face, not by road to the sand, so plan for the climb back up in the heat. Cash is still useful in beach cafes without card readers.
